Now, I gotta say something about that.

Not all modern anime fans are that way. Im a modern anime fan, I enjoy different genres like Naruto and Death Note; but I adore the roots of anime as well, like Astroboy and Gundam(oringinal was the best).

Not all anime fans are as enlightened as we sadly... They believe because they know one anime theyre experts and can say all the smack they want about other animes.

Too often they closed their minds to the great possibilities anime and its roots can offer, and prefer to love only the 'modern and cool art' of the new works, but they shouldnt forget where it came from. (huge Kimba and 009 fan XD), and just because its too 'cartoony' they dont find a bit of interest in it, even though most of Tezuka's works are some the most interesting things on this side of the planet!

Critisism has its place, but dont let people's biased views ruin the joy and majestice anime brings!

Still a fan of wacky animes too! (FLCL and Paniponi Dash are good at comedy)

Thanks for reading

I hear ya. I've gotten funny looks for my interests as well. And I know what yoiu mean Ryo. I've got a friend I chat with who likes modern anime but doesn't like any old ones. I mentioned Astro Boy to him once and he said "too old" which I found rather sad but hey, his loss

Ignore them, they are being silly. People who do not understand something or do not take time to understand them are often narrow minded.
