I should add, that a fellow just made public his posession of an english fan-translation on the kimbawlion forum. I've already got it from him and devoured it. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Jeffbert, if you are interested, you should either head over to that forum, or pm me and I'll give you the guy's e-mail.

Viz just released some good news by soliciting Phoenix Vol. 6 for march (and if you look closely on Amazon you'll see another 2 more volumes after that as well), but neither Dark Horse or Viz look all that interested in releasing any more Tezuka series.
That's really disappointing... but the good news for fans of Jungle Emperor Leo is that things like the internet make a lot of things possible - such as fan scanlations.
Anyone interested in getting a look at the original Jungle Emperor Leo manga in English should drop me an email (strobe_z@hotmail.com).
Normally I'm not for ripping things off the internet, and I'd be the first one in line to buy a legit English language version of the manga, so this is a "for the fans, by the fans" kinda thing (that means no charge).
Cheers! Very Happy

If anyone actually gets these scanlations, please make them available to the others here. thankyou.![]()
What do you mean? The jungle emperor fan translation ranks in somewhere around 240 megabytes, I don't think anyone is going to be posting it.
Unfortunately the scans I made came out like crap. You'd be best just e-mailing the guy who did the translations.

Subject: [tezuka] Jungle Emperor Leo scanlations
Hello, all. I've acquired links to a place where you can download amateur (but high-quality)
The download site is a little frustrating and makes you wait a while before it gives you the free links, while flashing a pay link at you, but if you're patient it works, and doesn't cost money (as much as it tries to get you to pay $1). As usual, these scanlations are provided only because you can't get this manga in English yet - if it's licensed for US release, please get rid of your fan copies and get the real thing:
LEO volume 01 -

LEO volume 02 -

LEO volume 03 -

However, I thought somebody said there were only 2 volumes.

Anyway, I just downloaded #2, hoping to see the part to which I referred earlier in this thread.
1. Its an Adobe Acrobat format, rather than individual images.
2. It is in English!

3. Volume #2, only covers Lune's arrival at the circus, so I need #3.

The Japanese version I have -IS- two volumes, but this has broken into three volumes. Still the same thing, but now in English!
Watch out though, unless he's updated it, the last page of volume 2 is unreadable.
Jeffbert---still haven't figured out what your fascination with Lune's visit to the Circus is. Strangely, I feel rather indifferent to Rune, and take him as giving additional persepctive to Leo's life, not as stealing the show from him or anything.
To me, at the end, I feel that Rune's return is more to draw parallels to Leo's own birth and conflict between the wild and civilization, not to draw us away from Leo. In fact, the irony here is almost overwhelming since unlike Leo, Rune actually had a chance to know his mother and father, but ran away, losing that opportunity.

I wanted to compare and contrast it to Atom's adventure in the robot circus, 1963 anime version, in which he takes command and directs the firefighting and rescue operations.

Hmm, so it appears that Hamegg, Higeoyaji, Kenichi, & 'Merry' are all known to each other. Now I can begin to understand things about Kimba season 1 that made no sense before.
They and Leo (cub) journey to Africa in search of the MT. Moon (1, 109). How long until Hamegg shows his true colors?
Plus: Duke Red
Minus: Notaarin
