My favorite authors are Tom Clancy & Dale Brown. I have an autographed copy of a book by Dale Brown. We talked for about 30 minutes. It was great.

Right now, I am reading E. R. Burroughs' The Warlord of Mars, the 3rd John Carter novel. I thoroughly enjoy all his Science fiction.

I'm not sure if I have a favorite author but there are a few that stand out in my mind when I think of story tellers;

Chuck Dixon - comic author most famous for his work on the 1990s Robin series for DC Comics, and also wrote the comic adaption for Tolkien's The Hobbit. His works were instrumental to me growing up as he offered me not only a great male role-model which I did not have personally, but also well-rounded, respected, strong and intelligent female role-models as well. This was the 90s so this was a pretty big deal.

Dwayne McDuffie - also a comic author famous for Milestone Comics and creator of Static Shock as well as Icon. He also worked extensively for the animated Justice League series as well as various animated films. His writing philosophy is something I admire and try to consider in my own writing.

Brian Jacques - I read this man's Redwall series constantly when I was a preteen all the way through middle school but stopped reading them when I entered high school (for many reasons which I won't go into here, pm if curious). I have fond memories of the series as a whole and he is an incredibly talented author who created a memorable world, and his writing style is really balanced. I remember it being detail orientated but in a way that makes reading easy - he had a talent for painting a picture in your mind EXACTLY what something looked like, using just the right word sequence in a limited space. If you like anthropomorphism you may like his series.
