Suggestion: A Chat Room?

After being here for so long, I have no idea why he would quit over some silly reason. The people who are moderators now seem to keep up to date with all of the threads and posts. That's why the moderators have so many posts! The moderators' jobs are to help out and watchover the forums while Mark isn't. Astro Forever, DrFrag, and jeffbert are doing great jobs as moderators. I don't know what happened to KELPIE and never really knew Vergere, who just joined.

Not as fun as you might think! We had to discuss rules and draft them, now we get to stress over judgement calls and put more effort into acting mature. When someone does the wrong thing it doesn't feel very good having to point it out to them. It's worth it for a smoother running forum, but don't underestimate the enjoyment of hanging out here as an Astro fan with no responsibilities.

Indeed. Usually, when I visit forums, I definitely won't bother reading every new post in every new thread, and as a moderator here, I have to remember that I should read everything just in case... I do miss a few posts here and there though.

And then when we think the rules are clear and we should know what to do no matter what happens, we find out there are many shades of gray, as they say!

I agree with DrFrag, it's not fun to have to contact people about something related to the rules or guidelines. Sometimes humor will work, sometimes it won't, sometimes somebody prefers us to be straight, others may be more sensitive, and we do care about your feelings, you know.

Now I'm not complaining, I love this forum and I'm happy to be here and in a position to help Mark.

As for the chat room, this site is Mark's, not ours, so he'd be the one to decide wether he wants to add any feature here. But I'm sure you guys can arrange something if you badly want to chat together.
