All right, I got scared away from posting in my own thread (thanks a lot, Cybotron, for humiliating me), but I feel I really need to give this update.
So, February is a terrible time for movies, but I sent a message to Ai Den giving her two titles to choose from, along with summaries -
Black Swan or
The Green Hornet. This Colour Noun pattern aside, she chose
The Green Hornet. She wanted to go to the theatre near her house, which I wouldn't have minded, but it turned out that theatre wasn't showing
The Green Hornet anymore, so we wound up having to get my father to drive us there.
We stopped at a Starbucks on the way, after she asked to get something before the movie. She bought me a tea, and I attempted to drink it right after I got it. :d oh: I burned my mouth and hand, but she helped me. And then when it turned out the movie would cost three times more than what she'd bought money for, I paid for her admission with mine, and it made me feel mature and whatnot.
In short, I made sure to talk to her throughout the trip before the movie...this is hard, due to the fact that I've had Selective Mutism for about a decade and am only now beginning to recover. To give you an idea of what it's like, it's like you want to talk, but your whole throat seizes up because you're uncomfortable or nervous. That's why I was so terrible when I worked at the A&W, but at the theatre, I hardly felt the onset of SM. I got to hear stories about Hong Kong arcades while we were in the theatre's diminuitive arcade, and I found her favourite anime is
Detective Conan.
But when we were getting into the theatre, they had a behind-the-scenes preview of
The Beast, and they had that blonde guy who plays the beast shirtless and waving around. Ai Den noted the screen and said, "Hey, he's cute!"
...

hmy: ...
Bah, at least I was making a friend.
In short, she absolutely loved the movie, and at the end of the day, she was absolutely thrilled to have come with me.

She's in Toronto right now, but we might be getting together when she comes back for coffee (or tea, in my case) or to watch
Giant Robo.
