Hmmm . . . I knew you could run XP on Windows 7, but I've not heard about the parallel desktop.

Does that mean you can "share" TT and Type 1 fonts - or is it just a visual emulation? What about running Mac software - will it do that?

I was really disappointed in Bootcamp on my Mac - thought I could have both platforms running simulaneously - and just toggle back and forth between them. Nope. Had to log off of each completely to "switch" back and forth.

Parallels is a VM for Mac that let's you run another Os under mac. My daughter uses it to run windows 8 on her mac book.

It was too late in the evening for me to think straight, but If I'd looked at the icons more closely I'd have realized what was going on. My daughter is running windows 8 on her Mac in a VM. Now why don't you have a dock on your Mac?

I have my dock set to auto-hide. If I pit my mouse at the bottom of the sceen, it appears.

I have mine on Linux the same way but it only hides if an app Window is above it.
