Snow here in Washington state and winds like you wouldn't believe last Monday! It left one heck of tree down mess all over.

But still I'd rather enjoy a so-called "real" christmas: one with actual snow and stuff...

We always have snow on the ground during christmas, the only question is how much. In the beginning of winter, prevailing winds blow across lake ontario and lake erie creating lake effect snow bands. Some last only for a few hours while some last up to a week.

This is a precipitation map of four days last year. Measurements are in inches. Events like this happen several times a year. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/lakeffect/lake0910/a/stormsuma.html

Here the wind is out of the west and the bands are blowing east.

Today, 1) Started up the driveway strait, 3) 1 mph with the engine at 4500 -5500 rpms near the top. 3) Down the driveway sideways (Really Scary, I was literally sliding down the driveway at a 90 degree angle).

6 inches of new snow + steep driveway + Subaru Outback Xt with summer tires.

Studded snow tires tires are going on tonight!!!

Many people believe that Australia is a hot, dry country and despite the fact that it is normally the case, it is not always the case, temperatures even in Sydney can get as low as 5 degrees C and the snow was extremely thick in the Snowy Mountains. Then while I was there we only was there for 5 mins before a blizzard started and everyone snowboarding or skiing had to stop.

(You might be wondering why I'm on this forum when I should be at school, well, I'm kinda sick today with an extremely sore throat, could hardly talk. But its not such an issue on this forum, where people type instead :lol :)
