Darn kids.

Well not naturally anyway. But technically seahorse males are sort-kinda pregnant. They have a pouch where the female deposits her eggs and the young are then born 'live' out of the males body. Does that count?

It's not always sci-fi, deary. O-O; I've seen a story on dA- a Zelda fanfiction- that not only featured mpreg, but a malexmale relationship involving some random OC. *shudder*

I fear I may be guilty of a little fandumb every now and again (though I keep most of my ranting to myself). :( Even if I don't say anything, there are some comments that rankle me for no good reason.

I might also be a Hipster Fan of MLP: FiM. However, I acknowledge that I don't entirely like it- basically, I like almost everything (fan art, the community, fan-created episodes) except the show itself. The ponies are all so cute; the animation is decent, and doesn't make me cringe, despite being made in Flash; the fan community is wonderful- but the show is kinda boring, even with all the neat little musical numbers (although something is holding me back from even liking /them/ as much as I feel like I should). And the characters are all boring somehow, too (except for maybe Discord, but I think that whatever stigma the show carries might even drag him down, too).

It's weird- I like it, and I don't like it at the same time. It's not as though liking it would embarrass me; I love Astro Boy just fine, thank you very much. But I can't seem to embrace it all the way; there's something about it that makes it not entirely appeal to me, somehow. Maybe my problem is that I simply want to like it, because so many other do? But that can't be it, can it?

... Whoops. Weirdness rant. Don't mind me, eheh...

Wow, I don't get around much. I don't know Zelda - only remember My Little Pony in the toy section of stores (I prefer Black Stallion and Marguerite Henry's "King of the Wind") - but I was an adult when MLP came out - Smurfs too - Pokemon . . . I have no idea what these are all about - so I have a LOT of catching up to do!

One thing about the Internet . . . it's ALLLLL out there, all the time. So when I come across something that strikes me as

I click on outta there! :p

@ Tetsuwan Penguin . . . YES Seahorse daddies help out with the babies . . . it's so CUTE! Kind of like a kangaroo pouch! :D

@Little Brown Fox I'm kinda like that too, where I'll like everything but the actual show/comic/whatever. Usually all my friends like them, so we'll talk about it and they'll let me in on the fandom "in-jokes" even if I'm not into it. I typically call those second-hand fandoms. :I

But what I think bothers me in a fandom most is when "elitists" don't let you have any fun. You know the type; they have to have literally EVERYTHING be exactly like canon, or how they interpreted canon and won't let you have any opinions or do anything that expresses anything different from what they believe. And God forbid you accidentally get a fact WRONG. I mean, I don't like when people twist things to the point that they're unrecognizeable, but the other extreme isn't that good either. I've dealt with a lot of people like that in a few rotten fandoms I've een in in the past, and it's really affected how I am in other fandoms now and in the future.

I feel pretty comfortable in this fandom, though. You guys are some of the nicest people I've met. c:

Edit: Funny thing, though, I actually just came here from a fandom where MPreg was running rampant. I just couldn't do it. ._.;

MPreg= scary stuff. Not even the darkest or weirdest side of any given fandom, though. |:T

I sometimes get upset if someone gets a fact wrong in a fandom. I tend to go by canon, too, but I'm tolerant of certain interactions, or AUs, as long as its fun to read, or is clearly stated as such or obviously so, respectively.

What bothers me in fandom is the “true fan” mentality.

These people have a tendency to set up rules on “what makes a true fan”, implying you need to hold certain opinions about a series in order to qualify as a fan. This includes rules such as you can’t like or dislike this adaption or character and if you do, people assume that your opinion is biased or irrelevant. I think this mentality divides the fans and make fans feel left out. In the end, the fandom becomes an un-enjoyable “elite” club with rules that alienate people.

That’s all I have to say about it for now. I have seen this happen a lot in the Pokémon fandom.

Definitely not. I've seen some things I dare not repeat on this family-friendly forum.

Eh, to be fair, I think a lot of people like that too when people get things wrong, and they have their own views on things, and even I'm guilty of it to some extent. But I'm talking about the ones who will literally send hate messages if you make even the tiniest joke about a character or an aspect of the series, even if it's not that controversial. That's pretty much how I got chased out of the Sonic fandom, believe it or not. :I

Please don't, April... it's naseating! :C

I suppose I might've had a "true fan" mentality when I was younger. I now label it as "hardcore fan", as I once read in a video game magazine (I can't remember which) that people enjoy things on different levels. I still feel guilty, though, because I'm still a bit of a Fan Dumb, to some extent. However, it may be connected to the fact that I've always been easily offended; at least for the past several years.
