yesterday morning at around 6:30am, i was busing down to downtown in total anticipation to see "Kung Fu Hustle" starring and directed by Stephen Chow, only to find out that the film print's been "damaged". I ended up seeing "The House of Flying Daggers". I know Tuesday night's showing was a success and i heard the Ryerson theatre was packed. 5 of my friends have already seen it and said it was a great movie.
However, my frustration is....how can an annual film festival with a great reputation do a big screw up like this? And believe me....i think it's more than just damaged. i think there was a whole conspiracy behind it. Here are my theories: 1) Stephen Chow cancelled his flight to Toronto and is reportedly still working on post production on the movie so he decidedly cancelled the screening. 2) Maybe the filmfest is telling the truth and maybe it is damaged. 3) The film print got stolen and the bootleg will be coming really really soon.
For some odd reason, i'm leaning towards Theory #3. But all in all, it was a huge letdown. Everybody got pissed off in the morning & started smoking non-stop right outside the theatre and y'all should have seen the look on everyone's faces upon hearing the bad news. Mine included.
I wonder if City TV will air my foul mouthed opinion about the situation on Speaker's Corner. I was really pissed at the time I made my 3 minute comment. alot of swearing involved. Although i've always wanted to see myself on TV getting bleeped like a gangster rapper! lol!
Toronto Filmfest letdown
That's too bad.. I live an hour away from Toronto..and I didn't go. Im not that interested in the stuff they show. How much did it cost?
I doubt they'll air your rant at Speakers Corner..there are a lot of people that use Speakers Corner. They also wouldn't want anything negative about the festival on CityTV. They want tourists, right?

those tickets cost $18 for a single ticket. i even spent 45 minute waiting in line for the ticket. Kung Fu Hustle is one of this year's most anticipated movies as it has been well over 3 years since Stephen Chow released anything since his last film "Shaolin Soccer".
