Actually Frankenstein was not so much a sci-fi story as it was intended to ask the very same question that Tezuka asks with Atom. Namely, is man able to live with his own technology?
Of course, its is a matter of literary interpretation. Have you seen TLC's Great Books segment on that story?

I have to admit that Asimov's I Robot is the only one I've read. Haven't seen the movie - I'm a bit put off by the trailer.

You jeffbert mean that as in the Movie, "Core"?
If you think that, I seem to like that movie.

No, not 'Core,' but "At the Earth's Core." I forgot who wrote it, either HG Wells, or one of those other guys. It was made into a film, starring the late Peter Cushing, but the film was rather silly, because of the creatures' rubber suit appearance.

Oh c'mon, why aren't Burrough's Martian chronicles up there?? I want to vote for the book where John Carter beats down the entire planet of Mars with his fists!
Edit: Is Earth's Core anywhere near as insane as the Martian Chronicles? I know there's a cross over of Tarzan at the Earth's core. Wait? Is this even science fiction anymore or just big meaty pulp with sweaty guys beating up dinosaurs?
