I have seen quite a few instances of nearly name brands in anime. This example from Ghost in the Shell graphic novel should suffice, though.

Page 255 has a sports car whose name is 'Toyoda.' :D

Also have seen more than a few instances of the Coca-Cola graphic minus the actual lettering, that is, the wavy lines that are unique to that brand. "M & Ms" have shown up in City Hunter more than a few times, as has some form of Nikkon cameras, but I do not recall the exact misspelling used. :lol:

I spotten a funny one one in Astroboy last week. The female scientist in the first episode of the 80s series was called Miss Ford. Her original Japanese name was Honda-chan! :lol: :wacko: :angry: Bloody translators. ;)

As far as this last item, KFC, and the Coca-Cola go, nobody needs to see the words to get the message. But, that also goes for M & Ms as well. That being the case, I cannot see why they obfuscated these names.
