It reminds me of the icestorm we've had here in January 1998. Half of Québec's population lost eletricity:

Canadians had never before endured a natural disaster like the ice storm of 1998. A difficult morning of car scraping quickly turned into a state of emergency from eastern Ontario to southern Quebec. Millions huddled in the dark by their fireplaces. Many suffered from hypothermia and carbon monoxide poisoning. Heavy ice sheets toppled huge power pylons and in just six days an electrical system that took decades to create was razed.

It was quite spectacular and beautiful too (okay, forget that the trees are leaning in the last one, because a lot of them were still pretty straight and beautiful too).

Of course, right after the snowstorm, the temperature plunged way down. Not quite funny since most people still did not have electricity...

My father will love seeing this.
