I may be crazy, but I have a theory. With the hurricanes getting stronger every year, would it be possible to disrupt the rotational pattern of the storm? My theory is could the military use the bombs similar to the ones they used in Vietnam to clear landing areas and attach altitude meters on them and set them to go off at a certain point in the hurricane and maybe disrupted the pattern? Maybe knocking it down a little. It sure would put some weapons to good use. I'm not a scientist so I don't know if that would even work. It's just a theory. What's everybody’s opinion on this?

My opinion is that the amount of mass inertness is far beyond what can provide even the most powerful weapons. But as you, I am not a scientist in atmospheric dynamism. It would be worth for a specialst to give it a serious thought...

And for those who think global warming is to blame, guess again. This event of two cat 4 hurricanes crashing into the Gulf Coast happened once before in August/September of 1915. One hit New Orleans, the other Texas.

I'm getting tired of the idiot blame games being thrown around over Catrina, it seems to me that the people of the Gulf Coast got "stupid's disease" after Hurricane Camille ripped them up back in 1969. I remember these people year after year saying..."You know, one of these days we're going to get socked by a good one and the levvies around the Big Easy will break and.....duh....let's have another Marti Grah!"

No one talked about global warming here, nor said any stupidity about Katrina, so why do you start on that topic? I even did a search on "global warming" on this forum and found only one match: yours.

You can't talk about "Socialist liars" without calling for other expressions such as "Democrate liars", "Republican liars", "Communist liars", or "X liars" where X is a member of an element of the set of political organisations.

This was the exact answer to the initial question, and I am glad someone had an information to give an idea of the strength of a hurricane. In my opinion no one needed to say more.

If they are liars, exhibate lies. Otherwise don't throw biased assertions.

Much of what these two have been writing about has already been debunked by the mainstream media. People like this have an expressed agenda and as always people such as these will do or say anything to help their agenda.

What gets me though is how the Japanese for instance can show such detailed preperations and operations to avert and reduce the outcome of disasters...take for instance all the work they have done near Mount Unzen in the last decade, clearing and constructing a lahar and lava path for future eruptive episodes and the yearly detailed drills around Tokyo for the next expected "great quake" How can anyone tell me that you'd have the right or even the gaul to blame "certain people" for slow reactions and poor planning when it's so obvious the locals were so miserably unprepaired in their own right even after 30 plus years of warnings?

Insted of such lame and wishful thinking research into how to stop a hurricane, which is folly, perhaps we should put all our resources into toughening up areas, revitalizing natural defensive fronts such as swamps, marshlands and forests. Prepositioning emergency response equipment aboard all the retired Navy ships we have in America.

And perhaps the politicians and cry babys in the Gulf Coast region will shut up now and finally learn the damn lesson Camille should have tough them in 1969.

My fault. I had thought it was evident I didn't request you to give them on this forum. Are you aware this forum is not politically oriented? Astro forever has already linked to the discussion about political discussions, so I won't repeat it. I find strange by the way you still haven't seen it If I wanted to discuss about politics in a forum where I am aware that so many people have voted and argumented against, I would at least try to explain why I do that, not you?
About what you said, I don't see any credible argument. Moreover, "debunked by the mainstream media" is an expression that puzzles me: I have a natural defience for the "mainstream media", as they are usually the preferred way for propaganda, whatever the country. As for the "expressed agenda", I would like you to name only ONE publicly politically oriented person who does not have one. By definition, they have one, otherwise they wouldn't be in politics.

The initial question was whether it was possible or not. Obviously, 2 people have said it wasn't. Why is it necessary to rant about people who do researches about this in this forum? Will it make realize they should stop? It would be far more efficient if you told them directly instead of ranting here.
