I just discovered Monty Python's Personal Best, which starts here in the USA Weds Feb 22nd. Yes, it is mostly old stuff, but as I undrestand it, there should be some new things in some of six shows. It will release on DVD also: Amazon.com: Monty Python's Personal Best. :P

I found a Battlefield 2 parody and it has a Monty Python skit in it. It's about 8 min. 16 sec into the movie. Here's the url.

Gram Chapman was their inspirational center. I wish they'd make a DVD of his funeral, the footage they did release of it was hillarious just the way he would have wanted it. John Cleese had the whole church busting with laughter.

Oh No! I forgot to change tapes after putting the 1st (Idle & Chapman) in my #2 VCR. As I was dubbing my 2nd tape from S-VHS to regular VHS, I realized this tragic fact. Fortunately, I caught the error, after only 5 minutes.

I watched both tapes yesterday, and after 55 minutes of Gilliam's animations, I was rather dazed. :D

Too bad they only showed the last minute of the Cheese Shop, because my only exposure to that sketch was the Matching Tie & Handkerchief cassette tape.

Regarding Chapman, while they spoke of his leading roles in Grail & Brian, they said nothing about Yellow Beard. Also, if he was queer, I would think he would have been rather uncomfortable with those sketches that poked fun at that lifestyle. ;) Perhaps he changed his preferences later in life.

Regarding Idle, why was Palin the Mountie rather than the Lumberjack in that (Hollywood Bowl) version?

& to finish this post, I say, 'Dinsdale.'

Oh! I watched it the other day on public television! So funny, as always. My parents watch Monty Python a whole lot; That's where I got it from. ;)
