Hope every one is ok in Austrailia. On television i recently heard about the bad cyclones you are experiencing. They are similar to the huricanes I have here.

It did a billion dollars in damage and wiped out a massive part of Queensland's banana industry. As far as I can tell there have been no deaths, which is amazing for a category 5 cyclone (a bit stronger than a category 5 hurricane).

Check this out:

It says the yearly average number of category 4 and 5 hurricanes has doubled over the past 35 years.
What's it like being in a category 5 hurricane? Do you have to hide underground?

Hopefully I'll never find out!
Well, I guess having to put up with cold winters here isn't that bad, after all.

Yes, they say hurricanes have been getting stronger because of global warming.

Underground?! I wish! Here where I live, we can't even have basements.
We are right above the water. People put shutters up on their windows and some head to shelters. The recent hurricane that came here was only supposed to be category 1 or a tropical storm by the time it hit us. Instead it was category 3-4, but felt like a 5. We had no shutters up and one of our windows came in.

Very scary experience. I also saw trailer parks destroyed. It looked like we were bombed when I went out side. Actually I felt like I was in a movie with the dark clouds above me and how cold the wind was.
