Last time I was *in* NYC I visited the Empire State Building, I'd never been to the ESB before. At least you're going in a cooler time of year. I was there in August a couple of years ago. That building is 1930's vintage and has no a/c so it was hot in there and the lineups were VERY long. First there's the security. Then the line for the ticket. Then a very long line for the express elevator to the 80th floor, then a MONSTRO line to get on the little elevator to go from 80 to 86. Then you're at the top of the building (86th floor). If the lineups didn't cut into your time too much, you're lucky, I was waay late by the time I got up there so all I could do was take a picture off all four sides and admire the view for about a minute before I started down.
Going down from 86-80 you actually have the option of taking the stairs. But either way once you get to 80 there's another mostro line to get on the xpress down to the bottom.
Next time I go, I'd like to go at night.
The ESB has a website and they have virtual cameras, once my parents were there and I got them to call me on their cell phone, and I went on the esb website and attempted to take a picture of them. Too bad they were there at night and I couldn't see them.
