I remember a scene in George Pal's "Atlantis the Lost Continent"

where the high Priest shows Demetrius the Bee hives and informs him that the hives are empty, the bees have fled, a sure sign that Atlantis will soon be destroyed.
what are the ramifications of a loss of bee pollenization on this level?

I prefer giant mantids, octopi, squids, tarantulas, ants, scorpions, etc. Actually, just this morning I head about the situation. Some suspect that cell phone towers are somehow affecting the bees. But if that were true, why would this not have occurred earlier? irate:

On talk radio, several callers identified themselves as beekeepers. However, there were conflicting statements, one said pollenization of crops was largely no longer dependent upon bees. Another said that honey production was only a side-item, & that pollenization was his main business. This guy seemed more convincing, as he was discussing the affects of various pollens upon the flavor of the honey.

We're Doomed! Who'd a thunk that we'd be resorting to cannibalism becuase of bees?

Domino effects are possible. But after the commodities speculators get through, some food items will surely inflate in value. Could it be somekind of cycle caused by climate change? Or have they poisoned the bees with some pesticide?
