I was talking to someone at another website and told them i was an Astro Boy fan and when i did they criticize the series. Seems like when you do not like something it is easy to criticize it. I like what Astro Boy is suppose to be, thanks :)  :astro:

It is hard I will admit, to take hard citismism for being a fan of something like anime (still a fan of old school Pokemon and Yugioh, and I get bashed for it frequently), but you gotta stand strong in your beliefs and loves Toni, dont let those mean, jealous people put a great anime like Astroboy down!

Thanks for reading

Well, if they don't get it, then they just don't get it. Everyone has different interests, and that's great, but they shouldn't criticize you for yours.

However, if any of these people doing the criticizing are anime fans, then they're idiots, because AstroBoy is the original anime hero and without that show, there wouldn't be anything else. And even besides that, there are other cultural aspects outside of anime and manga that AstroBoy influenced, like science, technology, robotics, and so on. So if they are giving you a hard time but should really know better, then I say educate them!

Sayonara.

I get a few smirks for liking Astroboy, but hey, I'm okay with it-it's a nerd thing, comes with the territory.
What people can't cope with is knowing you like AB and Tezuka, and then finding out you also like Robert Crumb, HR Giger, Hideshi Hino, Jim Woodring, J. Vasquez and a whole bunch of other Freak Out artists.
It kills their brain that you'd have some diversity in your life.
Lunkheads.

True story:The Anime club at my school holds AB and the Metropolis movie with contempt. I say 'are you freakin' kidding? Metro rocked!'
They say, 'oh, I know what I'm talking about, I'm an Anime expert.'
PUTZ! :d oh:

Aye, I know people like that. They are completely obsessed with Naruto and Death Note, but any time I suggest something by Tezuka, they say his style is "too cartoony".

oh God i get that alot! ive seen `modern` anime fans claim Astro's just a kiddy show but i bet they never even saw it, a dutch anime magezine ( Aniway ) reviewed Astroboy as a `simple Sifi Manga` but i got it anyway and boy there really wrong there`
Astroboy has so many reffrence to `adult subjects` from the Vietnam War, The nazi's to the racism against Black people` robots- trying to get the right to switch gender` and abusive husband who harm there children and wife,
but hardly any new modern Anime fan knows this/

Indeed. The only modern thing I've read that didn't condemn Astro Boy was an issue of Anime magazine, who called it "a classic that everyone should watch at least once".

But then, there was Death Note Girl at school, who actually tried to convert me from a Tezuka fan into a modern anime fan. (I don't even know what Naruto is about, but she went on about it for five minutes!) I swear, these kids think an anime requires guns, large-breasted women, boys with spiky hair and some sort of magical object.

Yeah, people just like to see teenagers fight each other`...*coucghnarutocoucgh* the idea of a small boy fighting for justice just `isnt in anymore` all of my Dutch Anime fans-friends told me they dislike Astroboy simply cause of the style they already judged a book by its cover >_>
