Ever seen a movie or cartoon that was in some parts word by word same as the book that was inspired by it. I have one of the star trek movies. thanks and hugs.
PS- It was the one where Captain Kirk and the star ship doctor were rescued from the Klingon prison.

Funny, I've just started reading Dumas' The Three Musketeers again a few days ago and it reminded me how close this cartoon from my childhood was to the original, all things considered. Obviously it was adapted for children and it's a long story in the first place so it's a very hard one to tell in a limited time, but it remains surprisingly close to the original. Some scenes are basically identical, others were completely made up but will still include key elements from the original story. Nice work.

Who would have thought that a kids show, with all the characters portrayed by dogs (!), would still be more faithful to the original than many serious movies?

Oh, and I've just remembered another one: it was an anime adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women. The book was written in English, then the Japanese made the series and I watched the French dub. Amazingly, when I finally read the book online a few years ago, the series is incredibly close to the book. I don't know if we could say that it was word for word but it could hardly be closer because I recognized some of the dialogues.

I loved the 3 M & the 2 that came after it, although by the end of the 3rd novel, I was sad to see all the main characters die.

I also read The Count of Monte Cristo & recently watched Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. It was at least 5 years maybe even 8 since I read, but the overall plot seemed intact, despite its sci-fi setting.

I love 20 Years Later almost as much as the first one. The Vicomte de Bragelonne is something else. I read Dumas had financial problems at the time and was paid according to the number of lines he was writing. I don't know if that's the reason but I find the novel way too long. There are too many details and I find some of the plots so boring that even if there are parts of the story I am very interested in, there are parts of the novel that I just skipped and still haven't read. I'm not planning to ever read them either.

It doesn't help that I find Raoul too perfect to be an interesting character. On the other hand, I absolutely love the mystery surrounding Aramis.

Interesting. I had never heard of that one. Somehow I doubt I could rent it here but if I can, I will.

I also read The Count of Monte Cristo. I hated the first 1/3 part but loved the rest. I love how the characters downfall happen because of their own actions (or their loved ones actions) more than because of Monte Cristo's.

Please what do you think of Zorro? I love the story of Zorro myself. thanks and hugs
