Can you Escape From nightmares?

I can Escape From nightmares 
Its Hard to explain how i can but
My teachers Once Told me that If a person Is having a nightmare
Its easy for his/her to wake up but
they say too if his/her can t wake up shes hear Everything around his/her
but his/her can wake up
But somethimes i have dreams(good one) that turn to nightmare so i fight it
