Molecular Computers

I subscribe to Gizmag news & was quite astonished to read this item: Scientists create organic 'molecular computer

Who'd of thunk that they would ever come up with this? Not only does it do things that conventional computers cannot do, but is uses paralell as opposed to sequential processing and 4 state as opposed to two state (binary) logic.

:astro:

OMG!!! This is what I was talking about!!

Yes!! This is what I've thought all along!!

and here (from same thread)

To my thinking -- if Tezuka were alive today, I truly believe he would have re-engineered Astro Boy to be a kind of "crossover" being... I think a "robot" could conceivably exist with an organic "mind" (that is modified to amplify our mental abilities)

What fabulous news -- Thanks Jeffbert! I believe this "A"I could be the key to helping us unlock mysteries of understanding our biology and pyschology. I don't feel we'll actually see it as "artificial" though. We don't consider telescopes or microscope to be "artificial" eyes -- but tools to enhance our own! YAY!!! :tenma:

Sending this from my Ipod. My dad says IBM was discussing the likelihood of molecular computers back in the 1950's. We're on a trip and spent the afternoon talking about technology and AI.

He feels there is a fair chance that we are likely to be considerably
more advanced than the public is aware.

Hard to type this way- need an Ipad! :whistling:

As if that were not cool enough, Gizmag just told me that they have synthesized life: http://www.gizmag.com/first-synthetic-organism-created/15165/?utm_source=Gizmag+Subscribers&utm_campaign=e05d1124f9-UA-2235360-4&utm_medium=email
I have not taken the time to read the article yet, but Frankenstein's monster cannot be too far off! :hyo:
