Ooohhh, good old classics, and going in order of year by the looks of it. That's actually a nice way of organizing it.

Have you seen General Spanky, AprilSeven? I have seen it twice on TCM, it is funny, but along with these others, some criticize them for racial stereotypes. I admit, sometimes they are extreme, but as we know they are false, we can enjoy the shows in spite of them.

Hmmm . . . General Spanky? Not sure, Jeffbert - it's been so long (at least 40 years) since I've seen any of these programs, it's going to be fun to reconnect this week.

I remember Buckwheat's accent (but I thought it was "Southern," not a racial stereotype, and very cute), and he seemed as much a part of the program as the other kids. Looking at these now, I'll probably be struck by what would never make it to the screen today.

BTW - Alfalfa could get credit for having the first Astro-esque hair style!

:astro: Two points are better than one!

I just read TCM's schedule for this month; General Spanky is listed for Tuesday 1/25 @ 9:15 PM. Here is the link to the film's page: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=1227 :p Alfalfa also appears.

You are very welcome, AprilSeven. BTW, TCM seems to be running related marathons on those hours in the following weeks. Laurel & Hardy next week, followed by other films & shorts that I assume all have something in common on the 3rd & 4th weeks in January.

Oh, I just received TCM's monthly newsletter, & the theme that ties together these various films is Hal Roach Studios.
