Please forgive me if this thread's already been done.
I dont really need to mention what I think was the saddest part of Astroboy...

However as for other anime......when Setsuko is about to be cremated in Grave of the Fireflies I got REALLY angry with the director. It almost made me think this guy was just simply out to tear the heartstrings out!
Check it out if you want but you really need to see the whole movie.....I actually didnt watch it all.....I couldnt..........

In terms of Astro Boy, the ending of Omega Factor and of the 2003 series made me feel emotional, but probably not sad.
There's been other shows and games that have made me feel the same way before, although ironically it's hard for me to remember them. <_< I think I recall one theme in Mega Man Legends making me feel depressed, but I won't really spoil it.

Yeah I know the part in '03 series that you mean. The scene at the end of 'The White Planet' was also heartbreaking...........its that goddamn music!!

Personally I find the ending to Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis to be the saddest:

But saying that isn't sad is an understatement by far

Hmmmm metropolis I dont believe pulled the heartstrings like Grave of the Fireflies did. But it was an extremely powerful (albeit strange) ending. The ending of Vampire Hunter D (latest one) nearly brought me to tears when Charlotte dies and Meier takes her to the kingdom of the night

Fotar, if you please, keep your adjectives to yourself. This is a public forum.
For saddest, I would have to say the ending of Metropolis like Androids said, when Maes Hughes died in FMA: Brotherhood, and the saddest/most heart wrenching for me is when Vash hit his lowest point in the original Trigun series.

For me, it's either the end of Cowboy Bebop...
...or
the last battle scene in Macross: Do You Remember Love.

(spoilers) Millennium Actress, when you learn that The Man with the Key, that Chiyoko searched for her entire life, is dead.

I'm sure she was alluding to
that post, but not about "heartbreaking".
