Holy Diver: Music discussion and questions

I'm not to sure if my music tastes are the same as others here. Now I'm sure some of the older users have heard of Ronnie James Dio. Unfortunately he passed away on May 16th, 2010.

Now he was in a metal music group back in the 1980's. Two of their most popular songs were "Rainbow in the Dark" and "Holy Diver."

Holy Diver I believe was one of their singles and was pretty good for back then.

Now not too long ago a metal group called "Killswitch Engage" re-did and released their own cover of Dio's "Holy Diver." I am into metal and I do things like this but I found their cover of Holy Diver just recently. In my opinion I think Dio's cover is very good and so is KSE's.

But I want to hear from people who have already known of Dio and Holy Diver. Which version do you think is better? For me it's a tough choice and it's hard to say. This is just something interesting that I thought I would share with some of you guys.

I REMEMBER RAINBOW IN THE DARK!!! Loved it. I don't remember "Holy Diver" but I have to say I think I prefer Killswitch Engage's version a bit more. That guy actually has a gorgeous "conventional" singing voice, and it sounds really sick (you know, in a GOOD way) in "metal mode."

Dio reminds me of a band I love from WAAAAAAAAY back (I bet Cybotron remembers them) - "Mountain" - I wore out their "Nantucket Sleighride" album!!!

I like both versions, but I'm kinda leaning towards Killswitch Engage's version. Funny, my dad hates the song holy diver and would probably hate it even more if he heard Killswitch Engage's version since he doesn't like metal at all.

I like Mountain, they're a great band and one of my favorite songs by them is Mississippi Queen. Mountain rocks!
