Tezuka in English's Forums fixed

Postby Dr. Jerk » 14 years ago

This is just a quick announcement that the forums at the well-known fansite, Tezuka in English, has just had its nasty forum glitches fixed by F-Man, who is now an admin there. For awhile the forums had suffered bad glitches since October of 2010, where posts and threads would not show up, admins were not notified of new registrations, and where the search function didn't work, as well as other oddities. The cause of these glitches were the result of the tables that ran the search engine had crashed for no apparent reason.

And since these are the old forums now fixed, there is no need for new forums like it was once discussed. That means all registered users get to keep their accounts and posts and threads. Nothing has to be restarted anew.

Hopefully, most of these are all fixed now. Some new users still have a post count of literally over nine thousand, but this will be worked on.

I'd post a link, but I don't think advertising is allowed. But still, let us all thank F-Man for volunteering his time on doing this. If it weren't for him, the forums would possibly have not been fixed for many more months.

That is all.

I believe the administrator there had posted a link here when she first opened the site. We're certainly brothers forum, in a way. ;) Jeffbert provided content there, and back then I had also provided a few images for the site, too.

I was sorry for you that the forum had problems, but I am enjoying your company here. Hopefully you will still entertain us with interesting topics here as well. Of course nothing prevents me, nor anybody, from reading and participating there simultaneously.

Oh, even while the TiE forums were as bugged as heck, I still visited it as frequently as I do here. Nothing is going to change just because it was fixed.

Well, if anyone is interested, here is the link to TiE: http://tezukainenglish.com/

YAY F-MAN!!! F is for..... FIX the FORUMS!! :w00t:

I'd go over there, but I first of all, I'd feel like I'm cheating on my home-forum (I can't help it, I'm old fashioned in that way!!)

But the real reason is FEAR OF NEVER GETTING OFF THE COMPUTERRRRR!!!!

I probably will zing on over there someday just to see what's up.

errrr - what is the "difference" in topics, members, etc.? Are we the "newbies" or more Astro-centric (which is fine for me!)

Just wonderin'

okay, okay I just went over there and signed up!!! Saw Dr. Jerk, Xenopes, F-Man -- don't wanna be left behind!

Not much of a difference, except more discussions of Tezuka's other works, and Tezuka-in-general, are there.

I suppose the other difference is activity... <_<

I forgot to mention,

To anyone new registering, it might take awhile to be admin-approved since the registry is currently being cleaned of spam/bot accounts over the last several months.

Registrations were closed as there are a lot of spam bots to be dealt with, and more would just be constantly signing up in the process of this. Unfortunately TiE's forums still uses PHPBB 2, and is thus very susceptible to bot registrations, and we don't really have the means to upgrade right now. So until an an upgrade does happen, or when we decrease the number of bot users by a great deal, then normal registration will be closed until something is done.

In the mean time, for those who want to be a member, you can just e-mail F-Man your desired username and he'll create an account for you. http://forums.tezukainenglish.com/viewtopic.php?t=2688

And oh, AprilSeven, your account was approved yesterday.

That's all. Why do I feel like some spokesperson? <_<

If anything,Jerk, you are a good, laborious, and friendly spokesperson, who is informative and puntual. These are very good qualities in any form of job discription as well as personal discription :) and don't let anyone else say otherwise ;)
