Kimba the white lion question

I assumed a gang of Tezuka fans was the best place to ask this

I'm wondering how many Kimba the white lion episodes there are/what episode he dies in/what is the last episode/where are the episodes with the main plot twists.
In order to complete the Tezuka anime quiz, many of the main questions being about that white lion, I need to watch a lot of Kimba episodes, and personally, I'm already getting tired of watching them all :shifty:

I'm like... on episode three X3

You really find it boring ? asuming you refer to the 1965 series where NBC enterprises where controling basically what happned well about that series i find i quite a entertaing concept something you never see in anime and though it laks action the story is verry good
and the go ahead 1966 Jungle emperor wich u can buy in bootleg and was never shown in the US in the 60's is trying to go more to the manga and that is when Kimba grows up and evntually dies.

and i like it maybe even more than the 1960 astro boy anime i even bought the Taiwan version of 1989 series wich is more close to the manga it self and i also own the German manga and that is all about the law of the Jungle.

start of the manga 1949-1954

episode's of

Kimba the white lion 52 (1965)
go ahead Leo 26 (1966)
1989 Jungle emperor series 52 (1989)
Jungle emperor movie 1996 or 97
2009 leo special

Well to the actual other question's i can't give you yet because you see that i'm slowly going though it.

In order to complete the Tezuka anime quiz...

I'm somewhat amazed to learn that I still have the same reaction to that sort of question as I did in school.

Anyway, you need to define the questions better.

How many episodes--meaning all series, the original series, or what? Counting movies? TV movies?

What is the last episode--By whose reckoning? I know of 3 different lists which give different episode orders for the first series.

Main plot twists--that really needs defining.

Yes.
It's something my friends do to me every month.

Holy crud I did not know there was more than one series.
Okay guys, you're going to have to define Kimba for me. What year is the series that is closest to the manga? Does Kimba grow up/die in that series? Did Tezuka still own copyright/direct this series himself?

There was a movie? That was not called 'The Lion King'?

Okay. Here's what I got so far:
THe original Kimba the White Lion came in 1966, Tezuka was in charge of most of it at the time, so it's closest to original.
And then 'Leo' came after, wich was a bit better animated (Okay, a lot) But not so close to the original.
And there was a... movie? I don't know XD

Am I close?

Youre completely wrong here after the succes of Astro Boy in the States Tezuka was invited to the USA to go talk whit NBC Enterprises who had bought the rights to Astro Boy
Image

he drew even a picture of it.

Here comes the point i'm trying to make the guys at NBC wanted to pay the hole production cost for the show and a little extra but then they wanted the law of the jungle concept sort of out the way they kinda wanted it took make it the new Bambi as Fred Ladd would say later in a interview.

So what Mushi PRO had to do was make a show about a Whitle Lion in the Jungle whitout actual killing o screen and such while still making it advantures and such.

And the Show started in 1965 not 1966 when the first 52 epoisodes where over from the not so Law of the Jungle concept the origional deal with NBC was over and Mushi Pro had taken the change to continue it with another 26 episodes.

where Kimba/Leo was an adult and would later on die, NBC who wanted a new Bambi was not intresed in this part of the series at all and so the second part was never show in the USA in the 60's later on i think it was the 80's some tv channel broadcasted this 26 episodes but it never was as popular as the first show and many Americans don't even know of it.

So later on before Tezuka passed away he would make another Leo series this series would start as it was supose to be but unfortunly after 6 episodes tezuka died ....

many say that the rest of this series was terrible that the wrong pepole where placed on it while another series made in that time Bible stories still continued to be a succes the 80's version of Leo is by many considerd verry bad and not tezuka like.

And the movie is just a short retake of the manga in one movie if you wanna know the actual manga is only 3 volumes about 800 pages that's about all you wanna know right ?
i know much more.

Also verry intresing is the change in the American version in the Japanese version they made it sometimes clear that leo would want to eat some of his frends by making frames where almost nothing happned this was changed in the American version having sometimes verry awkward scenes in it.

the 1965 series was called also Leo in Japan but Kimba was the english name and the sequel to that series he also directed.

But in 1989 tezuka was invloved in the first 6 episodes even though he was already ill so he kinda worked on it.
