Will Human Augmentation be possible in the near future?

Well I got my hands on a video game called "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" and one of the key elements in the storyline is Human Augmentation.

For those of you that have no idea what that means, it's basically robotic limbs or body parts. Like robotic arms, legs, and even eyes. The main character is heavily augmented after an accident in the year 2027 and is heavily augmented afterwards.

Of course there are crazy elements like military ones that can have transforming parts, armor and cloaking which I don't think we'll see anytime soon. But what's interesting is people who have normal functioning body parts in the universe in this video game can go in, and get augmented. Problem is that those who chose to augment themselves or not, (Maybe because of an accident.) have to take a drug for the rest of their life otherwise their body will reject their robotic limbs. So this is one of the conflicts and I found it interesting.

Do you guys think that human augmentation could be a reality in the future? Do you think that we will be seeing robotic arms and such anytime soon? Would you want to be augmented?

Let me know I think it's an interesting thought.

EDIT:

I guess I should have worded that differently. I didn't think of some of the things that are available now today.

Do you think human augmentation will be something common?' Do you think it will be made something corporate, like maybe a company like Sarif Industries making augmentations.

Maybe that helps to clarify.

This is a fake TV spot for the fictional corporation Sarif Industries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdERgfgB9Yc

They not only exist in the future, they exist right now!

People already have robot arms which fully function from messages sent from the brain, mechanical/artificial hearts, and more. Making lives easier for the disabled... There's even this guy I read of who operated with an artificial arm. In addition to making these robotic parts, people are also contructing organs out of human tissue, like how they made kidnies from cells. Also there's cloning, and people say that making meat artifically well become a reality sometime soon.

Definitely, augmentation of regular healthy people might not happen, at least for a while, but for those who have lost limbs, that is definitely something that is happening with robotic prosthetic limbs and it will continue to advance as time goes on.

They're not advanced as they are in that game, but give it another 50 or 100 more years and you might be seeing something more advanced than these:

okay that one is robot but meh, it might help a person walk someday.

http://www.sarifindustries.com/ <-- Site that exists!?

It would take about <s>200 100 50</s> 20 years for technology to progess there, though.
