Introducing Galaxy Boy Troop or 銀河少年隊 in Japanese (aka Le Commando De La Voie Lactee).

Thank you, F-Man for introducing me to this creation from Osamu Tezuka that uses puppets and animation AND the Tezuka Star System!

Check this out and I suggest we build a thread dedicated to this rare treasure!

I used to watch "Super Car", "Diver Dan," and "Fireball XL5" - so I guess Dr. Tezuka decided to catch the puppetry wave... :D

Hi, AprilSeven! You should also checkout the page on "Galaxy Boy Troop" at TezukaOsamu.net/en/anime/29.html

Also there is a great spoof of the Gerry Anderson SuperMarionation shows done by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore on You Tube called "SuperThunderStingCar" I'm sure you will like.

I  :astro: :)

Wow. What an interesting video, Higeoyaji was especially amusing. I also find it fascinating, seeing how Tezuka's characters work as puppets.

This show is unfortunately lost. :( A true shame, as I really love seeing these Tezuka designs as puppets.

Only one complete episode, made for French distribution, still exists and it can be found on this DVD. The Japanese Wikipedia says parts of two other episodes were also saved, but I don't know where to find them.

I have to admit any of the Tezuka live-action blended with animation (and I include puppets in that category) is fascinating.

Makes me wonder what Tezuka would've done with computer animation - can you imagine a live-action Phoenix movie with a CG Phoenix? I bet Tezuka would've tried all sorts of wacky stuff.

Btw, ASTROBUDDY, did you get my PM?
