YOUR MOST HATED FOOD

I could go on nearly forever listing all the things that I hate, but a few general ideas works best:

I hate:

  1. cooked green vegetables  , except green peppers on pizza.
  2. Any dark green veggie
  3. Just about any other vegetable you care to name  .
  4. stew, soup, etc.
  5. most fruits  , except watermelon, red apples, cantaloupe, grape juice.

I demand that lexicographers invent a proper word that has the same meaning about flavor as stench is to odor.

(X / flavor) = (stench / odor)

My mom could not paddle me enough to pursaude me to eat things that I considered icky. She had a defective tactic of giving me 5 minutes to eat that whatever it was, during which time I just anticipated how horrible it was going to be if I should put it in my mouth. 5 minutes of hell; how many times I suffered a fate worse than death, without even opening my mouth. :p But I won the war! Or, did I?

Seriously, my hatred or fear of foul flavors keeps me from even trying new things. The memory of my trying to spit out the offending substance keeps me from risking new things or giving old things a 2nd chance. I never learned to like anything that was offensive the 1st time. :hyo:

So here I am, one of the oldest members here, & I have just confessed my weakness.

I am generally pretty open to trying any type of food, but there are a few that I don't really like:

1. Most potato-based foods. With the exception of potato chips and french fries, I have never really liked potatos all that much. Baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, potato salad, you name it. I probably don't like it.

2. Bacon. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this one, but I have never really liked the taste of bacon. I can't really explain why.

3. On the subject of fruits, I have never really cared for watermelon or cantaloupe. One of my earliest memories is eating a watermelon in preschool and hating it. Nowadays, I've grown tolerant of it, but I wouldn't eat one if I had the choice.

4. The only type of vegetable I don't like is cauliflower. Never liked the taste of it.

I AGREE ABOUT POTATOES, it seems that unless every part has been touched by oil, I cannot tolerate them. But watermellon, is my favorite fruit; not the regular type, but seedless.

Peanut butter: Smuckers or some other 100 percent pure type. One day as I was eating PPan by the spoonful, I realized that its flavor came more from salt & sugar than peanuts, so I switched. Yes it is a pain to stir the stuff, but I invert the newly purchased jar for a few weeks, then put in on its side, & rotate every day or so. By the time I open it, it is nearly mixed.

ATTENTION VEGGIE-HATERS:

I only wish I could send you REAL "veggies" - I just planted 3 kinds of peas, and every summer greatly enjoy what supermarkets and frozen foods simply can't deliver - fresh veggies (fruits I get from farm stands) I don't blame you for feeling  over the taste of what you even get at average restaurants - please believe me, it is NOT the same.

Sugar snap peas you pop uncooked into your mouth - crunchy and sweet as, well, SUGAR. Ditto for broccoli, peppers, green beans, and squash - and TOOOMMAAATOES!! Plus my favorite - asparagus! OMG. I love you guys and only wish there was some way to provide a sampler.

If you ever want to give it a second chance, go to a farm stand - IN SEASON - veggies from Peru won't do (they traveled too far and even if they aren't droopy, the sugar has 'gone away.' Same with fruits. Only worth eating local and in-season.

Now, for what I HATE: "veal patties" - you know, the fake stuff, and basically any kind of "mystery meat" - I CAN NOT STAND coming in contact with any kind of GRIZZLE-GOOBERS.

I also hate "gamey" meat or "fishy" fish. Well-done beef makes me gag unless it's super tender (like stew). I also really don't like the taste of milk (but do love cheese, ice cream) hmmm... Yeh grizzle is my big issue.

I can't even stand the smell of bacon.

Also never liked blueberries, peas, or cucumber (but I like pickles).

I also don't like PB and Jelly together, but I like PB samwiches and Toast with Jam.

That's all I can think of at the top of my head right now.

I used to only like french fries and potato chips like Shiyonasan, but in the past few years, I've started eating several other types of potatoes. I still can't stand mashed potatoes. Potatoes must not be too "soft" for me.

I don't like... pizza!

There are textures I don't like, or particular mixes I don't like. I prefer everything separately in general. ;) I'm not a fan of ketchup or mustard either.

Forgot about cucumbers. I don't really like cucumbers that much either unless they're put in a salad. Even then though, I just tolerate them.

I also forgot about mashed potatoes! But I forgot to mention that I actually don't mind mashed potatoes, especially if gravy is put on it.
