Hello!!!
When I'm older I plan on going to Japan on a very long trip. But of course, I need to learn how to speak Japanese. I know I'm only 13 and it's gonna be a long time before my trip... But I want to be as good as I can beat the language, so why not start now?

Any suggestions?

Well, all I know is liittle things like vowels

I don't think there much pepole here that really can help you with it i'm learning it myself but from a western perspective Japanese just doesn't make much sense you really gotta force your brain to memorize sentences and stick Hiragana Katakana and Kanji in your brain esspacially Kanji which is a Chinese based script and is about 80 % of the Japanese language (2000) caracters :o hmy:

I sugest first to use free websites to get into it here you can learn the basics free here http://radiolingua.com/category/shows/oml-japanese/
as for basic reading (hiragana and Katakana) to download this PDF's http://www.freejapaneselessons.com/printable-hiragana-chart.pdf
http://www.freejapaneselessons.com/printable-katakana-chart.pdf

in order to make something out of Kanji i suggest buying this book http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Essential-Kanji-PG-ONeill/9780834802223 or anything like this

This is what i have been doing to learn Japanse so far there are also lots short video's on You Tube but of course it might be better to just take a course or somthing but i hope this can start you up.

iT IS BETTER TO LEARN IT WHILE YOU ARE STILL A CHILD, AS YOUR BRAIN is wired for language acquisition. (caps lock was on, though I noticed too late). :ninja:
