(mods feel free to merge this)

Basically, long story short, does anyone know if dried beans brought from the food section will grow? Because if they don't my science experiment will be stuffed.

Also, broad beans are not in season at the moment, but are there still chances of buying any?

I don't wan't to fail this! I've looked everywhere for fresh beans and I can't find any! Please help!

If the dried beans haven't been heated to kill off bacteria and are fresh, they should sprout but you would do well to soak them overnight before planting

Best idea is to go to a gardening section and buy a package of beans, or from a health/natural food store/section.

Broad bean . . .do you mean fava beans? again a gardening section should have them. That's where I would go for beans I want to sprout.

But I have a feeling a regular, commercially processed dried bean could let you down.

Thanks! Yeah, I mean fava beans. ;) Luckily I cut open two beans and they are starting to grow now. Science experiment is saved. *breaths sigh of relief*
