My arm is broken :(

Postby MightyAstro » 12 years ago

But at least it's only a hairline fracture in the elbow.

I stumbled while walking my niece to school with her mother five days ago while visiting them in their own home city. It will heal okay though and won't interfere with my plans to travel overseas again to Texas for three months to visit my fiancée.

Ouch! that sucks! I never broke a bone in my entire life yet, so I wouldn't know how it would feel

Ouch!!

I'm sorry to hear that, Mighty Astro!! I had a (hairline fracture) broken leg as a child (same month as Astro Boy's premiere in back in 1964, in fact). Let me tell you, it HURTS!! Then it itches (do you have a cast on your arm?) but hopefully it will heal quickly. When are you coming over to the States?

On the 27th of this month AprilSeven. I have no cast. Only a bandage and a sling.

Anime Girl this is the very first fracture I ever had too. Apparently what I stumbled over was the edge of the pavement where the ground had eroded away. It was cemented into the ground and it was no longer level.

But I have to say that I am surprisingly in far less pain than you would expect due to my brain damage. I don't sense pain the way others do. All I felt at the time was a feeling of stiffness and tenderness so I continued walking to school with the relatives thinking the feeling may slowly go away if I kept gently massaging and moving my arm back and forth in small motions.

After seeing my niece's classroom and meeting her teacher my sister-in-law tried an icepack on me for an hour and even stretching my arm out once but we had to seek a doctor in the end. I told her I didn't think it was broken but with my sense of pain it's hard to be sure.

Yeesh... I've never broken anything before (at least, to the best of my knowledge), but my sister broke her arm once, when she was young. She said that it didn't hurt at first (she didn't even notice until a friend pointed it out to her), but once the shock wore off, she said it was very painful. Plus, she was a cheerleader at the time, so it was highly inconvenient.

It's almost the second week since my accident and I don't even need to take painkillers. I can feel that there's something wrong but it doesn't hurt very much. It just feels funny.

I once burned my stomach with hot water and all I felt was an initial brief stinging sensation. I had a root canal once and never felt any pain at all from the procedure. It's incredible.

Anyway I'm looking after my arm as best I can. The only other thing to report is that I've begun taking tablets to control my blood pressure. I need to care for my health.
