When I heard Petraeus was from
Cornwall I was intrigued, but I didn't realize he was only a year older than me . . . and therefore was a student at West Point when I was there (frequently!) - especially 1972. Back then, WP was all-male, and I attended an all-women jr. college - so there was a LOT of cross-socialization between "Woo Poo U" as we used to call it, and all the female-only colleges in the area around the military academy. I wonder what company he was in . . . one cadet I dated for a while was in Company B (and usually cadets from within each company get to know one another). What a hoot . . . I have to see if I can connect with some of my old college buddies (who practically LIVED up there -

- it was only a 20 minute ride from our college) and see if any of them remember him! OMG.... And talk about "Astro Boys" . . . . some of these cadets were really amazing young men - incredibly bright, outgoing, fun to be around - and able to take all the rules and regulations of the Army/academy with an impressive sense of humor. But most of these guys had girlfriends back home, as I recall

Still - it was a great deal of fun and I'm really sorry to hear about what's happened. I just wonder if I ever met him during my time at WP...
