That is a nice bit of work with the Gimp or Photoshop. Did the two of you collaborate on that? I know where the image of Astro came from, but I've never figured out how to dissect an image to remove part of it like that short of cutting the outline out pixel by pixel to erase the background.

The right hand monitor of my desktop, showing just one of many available wallpapers I have on automatic rotation.
That image of Astro you guys have came from a "Project Atom" Wallpaper from Tokyo Denki University. I downloaded all of them before they were pulled down.

I saw a video with that. 
Atom is not Tezuka's first character, but he seems to be the most famous, and even the most loved- to the point that he seems to be regarded as Tezuka's signature character and/or masterpiece. I wonder if he was Tezuka's favorite, too...

Yeah I guess you could say that Astro is to Tezuka, as Mickey Mouse is to Walt Disney.
I may be wrong, but I think that Tezuka's favorite character was BlackJack. He would NEVER let anybody else draw the cels for BJ in the anime's he did of BJ, but other artists would draw Astro.
