Has anybody else watched through them? You can watch them here legally and free:

I've gone through the first five so far, and they're all interesting, whether in the thought-provoking way like with "Tale of Street Corner" or in the strange kind of way like with "Male" and "Memory".

I haven't watched them all yet. I really liked "Jumping".

"Memories " was also good. Tezuka and Spielberg both seem to have a thing for making fun of the third Reich. In this film the boss sounded like he was speaking in Hitler's voice. (Spielberg had Indy vs the Nazis).

I have the DVD and like pretty much all of them.

The one with the battle with the forest animals vs the machines was good. It went through several different art styles too which was interesting. It's been awhile since I have watched these.

I watched a couple of them before. So far I saw Mermaid, Broken Down Film, Pictures at an Exhibition, and Male. Broken Down Film is my favorite so far.

LEGEND OF THE FOREST was based on W3 episode 04, Camphor Tree Story. Same basic plot, different music, Beethoven, in W3, Tchaikovsky here. Also, Hitler, Bluto, & even Olive Oyl appear in Legend, though she is very hard to spot:

Clearly, the Bluto version of the woodsman liked a wide variety of women.

I just finished going through all of them last night.

I think my favorites were Tale of Street Corner, Mermaid, Jumping, Broken Down Film, and The Legend of the Forest. All of the films were interesting (in a good way) though.

I hadn't realized until after I made this topic that these films were among the last anime Tezuka made before his death. In fact, Self Portrait came out in June 1988, which was just 8 months before his passing. It's interesting to see how his work changed over time from the anime he made in the '60s.
