Interesting, I did not see much if any reference to AI, though.

Most of the article dealt with the balancing and walking ability. Looks like a development platform for advance humanoid robotic control systems.

Nova had a program last night that featured Atlas, among other robots as examples of modelling artificial things on nature. They tried to knock him over by swinging a 20 Lb. medicine ball against him while he was balancing on 1 foot.
