Robi videos

I've been watching the assembly videos for the Robi kit online (the entire set isn't up there yet.)

While it's all in Japanese, the assembly steps are very well illustrated, you could probably be able to assemble the robot just by watching these even without any knowledge of the language. I can see where most of the expense for this robot comes from. With over 20 large servo motors (that size can go for over $50 each!) the cost adds up. Also these are not the usual R/C servos, they use some kind of networked protocol that allows them to be daisy chained and individually addressed (I2C maybe?).
I think it's pretty obvious that Robi's appearance borrows a great deal from both Astro and Mars. He has Mars's blue scarf around his neck, and two cowlicks that are a cross between Mars and Astro.
