Does anyone have any clue how old are they, whether in the manga or in the anime?

Or, what age do you HOPE I let them be in Kaze Ni Naru? :)

Well there was an episode in the manga and anime that took place 20 years after Blackjack had been healed from his childhood accident. If we assume he was about 10 at the time he would be in his 30's as an adult.

I agree with Tetsuwan that he should be somewhere in his 30s, that also makes sense concerning that it takes a while to become a doctor especially one with his skill.

The year 20 also popped up in the episode where Black Jack had a minor mental break and convinced himself that the reconstructive work on his hand that Dr. Honma performed was 'falling apart'. So he's definitely in his 30s or at the very least late 20s (like 28 or 29, though that seems to be very unrealistic).

Personally I hope that you would make Black Jack and Kei in their late 30s or 40s :D

I agree that he's most likely around 30. In the episode where he has his accident, he looks like he's around Tobio's age and the age that Atom is built to look like. So, I would guess 29 or 30.

Just take a look at this picture, and it will solve everything. (Didn't I show you this before? I thought you already knew about Black Jack's age, considering it's just kinda obvious.)

Just take a look at his features and listen well to his tone of voice. You can easily tell he's in his thirties. :)

It's anime, you really CAN'T tell age 100% most of the time. Heck even people in real life can have a hard time gauging age for each other. I am in my mid twenties but I get mistaken as a teenager all the time.

Black Jack looks like he could legitimately be anywhere his late teens to mid thirties taking into consideration anime and its style.

That's true, but it should still be very obvious. No teenager has a voice that deep. Just because it's anime, doesn't mean you can't tell what age they are. I usually guess what characters age they are in anime, and I get it right almost all the time. Also, just take a look at his body and how tall he is. (Though, I have seen taller characters than him.)

The voice and looks usually define a characters age.

Also, I really like the art style in the 2004 series cause it reflects Dr. Tezuka's artstyle. (I think retro anime styles look cute. )

You are probably thinking he mostly has a feminine look sometimes, which could lead you to thinking that he may be in his teens. Though as for me, I already knew he was somewhere in his thirties just by taking a close look at him, paying attention to his background story, and listening to his adult voice. (I have noticed that he sometimes looks like a female in some frames, But that's usually the type of expressions he has on his face.)

EDIT: Something else I forgot to add. Tezuka usually creates all his characters with certain looks and detail that other anime or manga characters don't. So, in his works, there is no need for any age. You can usually tell what age they are in his works just by looking at them. (That's one of the small reasons why I like his works. :) ) But as for one of those characters with a background story, like Pinoko pretty much, it's kinda hard to tell, but can usually be revealed by just paying attention to her actions and personality. ;)

Trust me, I'm an Otaku. I know these thing very well, for I have been around anime and manga ever since I was like 5.

Oh I've been around manga and anime for twenty years. It still doesn't help 100% of the time. Paying attention IS the only way to accurately judge age in anime and manga but for some it's just hard.

I'm only saying that based on how he is animated it is JUSTIFIABLE to say he looks like he can be anywhere from 19 to 35. I did not claim that he WAS 19. Just that it would be fair to say he looked like such which isn't bad at all for the character.

You are probably thinking he mostly has a feminine look sometimes

And I never thought this once, ever.

Well, all I can say is guess you're not too good at researching or justifying. (Joking)

Oh, I know, but the way you said it made it sound like you thought he was a teen.

Btw, you can kinda spot some of his feminine looks by paying real close attention and pausing it sometimes. My brothers and I have noticed a few. He sometimes looks like a girl, but that usually is the way they draw him sometimes. (But usually, that's just us being immature. I usually think he looks cute like dat.)

Hang around anime and manga everyday and almost all day through your life like me and you'll understand.

I am not saying anything more. :) End Of Story

Here's a page in which people are discussing his age:

What do you think? I'm leaning towards 27~29 myself.

As for Megumi...well, I just know that she's younger than BJ. That's all I think.
