Sakura Con is the largest Pacific Northwest Anime Convention based in Seattle WA, I'm going this year (as I do every year) but are there any other members going?

What sort of cosplays should I be on the lookout for this year?

This is a list of this year's guests http://www.sakuracon.org/programming/guests.php

As always I'll be on the lookout for some nice Tezuka goods.

Um, I don't go to those kind of things cause I live somewhere very far away from there. Also, non-socialble. Doesn't like to be out in large groups. Rather be alone.

Cosplays you should look out for: Tezuka cosplay, Tezuka cosplay, oh, and did I mention Tezuka cosplay?

Oh I most definitely will be! :D It's just a shame not many do Tezuka cosplays, last year I did and we were the only ones. Sigh.

I'll keep a lookout for those Black Jack doujinshis though, we have a vendor that shows up there every year that only sells yaoi and shounen ai doujinshis. ;) And they have A LOT.

Though lately they've only been selling crap like Hetalia... and I suspect that they will have a bunch of Attack on Titan stuff as they sell whatever is popular and trending at the moment.

The only anime convention I can get to right now is Ai-kon. Although this year I was only there for about half an hour. Maybe next time. *sigh*.

Hetalia is crap. :ninja:

Attack on Titian. I'm not a big fan of that show and I show little interest. (I'm not a big fan of popular anime much these days. All of the popular ones are always very stupid and have no meaning behind them, unlike Tezuka's works. :tezuka: XD! ) My brother's are all over that Attack on Titan stuff though. I just think it's very stupid. :shifty:

For me it's Black Jack, Astro boy, Kimba,Princess Knight,Don Dracula, The Three Eyed one, ect. (Yeah, so pretty much all Tezuka anime that I'm all over every 24/7. :tezuka: :hyo: )

Yes please do! :w00t: (I love doujinshi! Especially Black Jack doujinshi, which they hardly have any of out there. I only saw a few on e-bay, like a Japanese parody of Black Jack which were pretty funny by the looks of it cause it was clean parody and wasn't offensive. And a few strange Black Jack x Kiriko doujinshi. And Black Jack was for some reason a woman... Yeah... That was soo uncalled for... Me did not like that one. Not at all. :shifty:
I remeber seeing a Black Jack x Rock doujinshi once, but it was only just the cover of it. I wonder if it was Japanese or just some deviantart one.) Remember, to be on the eye out for them! (And please, try and find some good ones! The gender bender ones are usually kinda stupid.) :shifty:

No promises on if I can find any Black Jack doujinshi there. I'll be on the lookout for them but there is just no guarantee that they will be.

Black Jack as a woman? Wow. Well it's not the worst thing I've seen in doujinshi or heard about, but that still is pretty strange. Still fans can dream, even if it's a little odd.

I agree with you on Hetalia, it's really not for me; it's offensive and racist and really NOT funny or 'kawaii'. As for Attack on Titan, I really don't know, it just seems just ever other anime in existence filled with the same tropes that you would normally expect. Not my thing.

I too like the older stuff.

I know where your getting at but you should still keep an open mind to some new stuff some things that get made today are so random but that doesn't mean everything is.
You might wanna check a series called Space Brothers the anime started in 2012 and is still going strong it ain't no shonen and no fanservice either it's a great realistic (seinen) series with a great story behind it.
There is also this series called Silver Spoon which is about Farming and real facts from it i have learned more about farming from that show then i have all previous years in my life combined while still being entertaing at the same time.

As for some stuff like AOT i do like it but doesn't reinvent the wheel but still entertaining and i'm still a big fan of some moddern shonen series: One Piece,HunterXHunter,Naruto still really looking forward to the days a new episode/Chapter comes out.

You also have to understand that i came back into anime in the end of 2006 as a complete DBZ nerd because someone showed me some stuff again.
But later on i became obbesed with the older stuff but since the last years i don't make a difference between old and new they bouth have there strengths and weaknesses.
So please keep open mind to some stuff as much as i hate people that don't care about stuff that's older i do think you have to be smarter then them and give credit to some new stuff that is actually good because it's not like it isn't being made anymore.

i do think anyone agrees on this forums that series that are only just about Moe just need to die when looking to a list of the new season you don't even have to bother with about 25 % of all new stuff that's the biggest problem with new stuff.

Excuse me? What exactly did you mean here? I know that English isn't your first language but this sounds really REALLY harsh and cruel. I know you're not a mean person so I think you might want to look at this.

Did you mean that people who dislike anime and think that it's all 'moe' need to die? Or did you mean to say that series that are 'moe' just need to die?

damm again still thought it was pretty clear ... anyway i meant to say that series that are just about moe just need to die.
You also have the thing that many pepole think for some reason that anime is only pokemon and hantai and maybe stuff like DBZ that's a whole other issue.

That's what I thought but just wanted to clarify. :)

Yeah a lot of people think that, then again a lot of people think that animation period is 'just for kids' or that comics and manga are 'childish'. When people think that anything is defined by only one thing we run into all sorts of problems and it's a hard cycle to break. In the adult life media and social constructions would have you believe that you're supposed to give up 'childish' things like animation and comics and move onto more 'mature' things like oh I don't know... ballroom dancing or football.

Shame that, but it has been improving as animation and comics have been introduced into the mainstream as serious business. There will always be people that believe stereotypes, that is unavoidable but our generation is better at it.
