INFECTED!

My left leg is infected, by what, & when, I know not. I have been taking powerful antibiotics since Sunday evening, but I do not see much, if any improvement.

The swelling is down from last night, but waiting too long may endanger my hip replacements, & that is not an option.
I may be absent for a few days, as hospitalization & IV antibiotics may be required. I expect to decide by 5PM.

Ohhh no! And after reaching the posting pinnacle! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Jeffbert. First things first, though - the infection has to be cleared up. Might sound crazy but I know someone who ended up hospitalized with a nasty leg infection they ended up tracing to a spider bite!
Hope that can be resolved so the hip replacements can happen. While major surgery, they are much more commonplace now, and the healing is remarkably fast.
Heal quickly and fully, friend!

I hope this isn't a drug resistant strain of bug, though if it wasn't contracted in a hospital it is more likely not to be. Hyperbaric treatment might be required in extreme cases.

I wish I had been able to tell you so before you left, but still, you will know when you come back that I thought of you. I hope everything is going as well as possible.

The oral antibiotic is so far working; though I doubt the infection will be 100% eradicated with just a 10 day supply.

It is day 4, & the leg is still visibly affected; knowing the curve these things use, a rather slower improvement with every day, I am certain I will need more.
My hips have already been replaced, it is the possibility that they may become infected that I fear. As far as I know, it is near impossible to purge replacement joints of infections. I cannot even have my teeth cleaned w/o 1st popping an antibiotic an hour before.
Thanks to all for wishing me well!

I wish the best for you, I too have had problems with antibiotics and health scares and they are never places where I want anyone to be. I hope that things go well.
