What Was the Worst Job You've Ever Had?

There are a lot of crummy jobs out there... What was your worst one?

Mine was working at AT&T full time in their customer care department (in-bound call center), the pay was pretty good (about $11.75 hourly + commissions) but the job itself was rancid, static and boring that demanded constant cheer towards angry disgruntled and rude customers.

Most calls were either "Why is my bill so high?" or "WHY CAN'T I TEXT MESSAGE?!?!?!?!!? I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO TEXT IN 5 MINUTES!!!!! FIX IT NOW!!!!!"

It got really monotonous really quick, and my boss was constantly hitting on me, but the breaking point for me was when I got reprimanded and penalized for educating a customer that they were trying to commit insurance fraud (they were trying to put insurance on the newly released iphone 4 which they had broken the day they bought it by dropping a 90 inch plasma screen tv on it but had not opted to get insurance in the store).

Apparently we were not allowed to tell customers that they were going to do something "bad" because "that's rude". :d oh:

I just quit then.

Probably the two man engineering shop in FTL Florida (I was the third guy) for a medical company with their HQ in Israel. My local supervisor was a real SOB, and I was fired while I was recuperating from open heart surgery.

:d oh: that's awful, my trainer for the same AT&T job which I quit from had the same thing happen to him, he had a heart attack on the job and was rushed to the hospital and while he was in surgery they fired him because he left work before the end of his shift. I'm sure a lawsuit resulted but am not sure.

Well in my case the company had less than 50 employees so they exempt from medical leave provisions of Federal Law. AT&T would have NO such loop holes to hid behind!

AT&T unfortunately is a pretty poor company to work for and I would never suggest working for them or even using them as your phone provider.
