I found this interesting set of videos on Youtube that were put there by an American couple that moved to Japan. The woman who posted these took a job as an English teacher in a Japanese middle school. The video I've linked to shows what it's like inside the school.

I am relieved to see that behaviors in Schools there have not shifted much; while in America they might as well call the schools deplorable.

I was surprised to see the use of Kerosene heaters and the students filling them. Having the teachers and students do clean up duties seems to be a good idea.
