Open letter petitions UN to ban the development on weaponized AI (GIZMAG)

:d evil: Progress in inevitable, though some apparently see it as frightening. The article compares the development of killer robots with that of bombs, etc., but once the requirement for a human taking each life is out, I, for one see little difference.
The big difference is that victims of bombs may not know that their end is near. But send a bunch a Crusaders, Vikings, terrorists, soldiers, or robots through a town killing everyone in sight, & there is fear among the villagers, knowing they are marked for death.
As far as the development of killer AI goes, it must surely be preceded by humans at remote controls who actually press the [kill] button.
