OSAMU TEZUKA STORY trans by F. Schodt

When I ordered this book, I did not even bother to read the description.
1st, its as thick as a phone book! Over 900 pages.
2nd, Its in manga form.
3rd, right to left format.
I expect to start reading it later this week.

I pre-ordered this from Amazon with el-cheapo shipping option (slow). It should arrive next week.

My copy just came in today's mail. It's almost 2.5" thick!

I've started reading the book, and found something interesting.
It's well known that Tezuka's own curly hair that tended to stick out in places was the inspiration for Astro's hair spikes. But on page 46, Tezuka is shown sporting a short "buzz cut" for the summer, and takes to wearing a cap to hide his short hair from his friends. (The kids would play a game of slapping a friend on the head when he had a buzz cut). Maybe this was the inspiration for Tamao's hairstyle and cap.

I just finished reading this; I just rarely even thought about it. It has listings of all his known works in the back. Interesting stuff.
