'Vampire' live action series is bad ?

Postby Tetsuwan Atom » 14 years ago

I don't know how many pepole actually have seen it or heard of Tezuka's live action series 'Vampiere' but i payed 60 bugs for a 25 episode Japanese live action black and white series with animated wolfes no vampires go figure ...

It is based on Tezuka's manga from the same name wich is actually pretty good but this was more like a experiment from tezuka trying to get live action footage and animation on the same screen just like mary poppins did a few years before but the problem was it dint really work, of course Tezuka dislikes it see for yourself

Well the good things about it is that Tezuka himself plays in it wich i really enjoy thoug he is not a main carachter in the series and while the effects and hole meaning of it are kinda weird i don't think it was a complete waste of my money because the story is there just based on the manga and i might pick up the nice French version some day because it is one of those series that is so weird you just gotta pick up i like to hear some opinions about this series o yeha and the live action Rock Holmes looks pretty good as well

I have the full set; yes, 'vampires' is a bit misleading for the title, but I found it quite entertaining.

It didn't seem that strange to me when reading the manga, as one of the vampires does transform into a bat. It's just one animal among many. I've also been told that there is some wolf transformation in DRACULA as well.

In the live action series, the tribe's elder changes into not 1, but many bats. In Jetter Mars, there is an episode that Strange Wings translated as WOLF BOY FROM OUTER SPACE. Here, the elder & only 1 little boy remain, & both become wolves.

That Jetter Mars episode reminded me greatly of the tribe of wolf gods in Phoenix: Sun.

I had not thought of that, since I viewed VAMPIRE more recently than HI NO TORI; I thought the boy was modeled on Chippei, but maybe not!
