Did chi-tan ever appear in a manga story that wasn't collected into the DH set, or was he only in the last season of the original anime?

From my understanding, he was introduced in a manga story. Unfortunately, he was only ever in that one story.

I think Astrobuddy has pages from a manga with Chi-tan. I'll see if I can find them, :ninja:

Yes, but it was never re-printed. The only Mighty Atom manga story not available outside Japan one way or another.

I've only read one manga with him in it before. And it's in Japanese so I can only understand half of it. :(
I joined this forum in late 2013 when I was 15 going on 16. Ignore my oldest posts, they embarrass me so much that I've considered permanantly leaving the forum more than once. I've grown out of my fangirling phase over Black Jack, Atom and Uran ages ago but the memories still embarrass me at times... Though, I try to be more open-minded about it and accept it as an "interesting stage of my life". :tezuka:

I'm guessing that Chi-Tan literally translates to "baby Titanium".

In fact, "chi" is for "ti", so "Chi-Tan" literally means "Ti-Tan", which is titanium.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Thanks. I would have thought there would have been a non - hyphenated word for titanium in Japanese, I guess it was the romanization of it into English that generated that form.

Now Jeffbert sometimes refers to Uran as Uranium, which IS where the name comes from, but did Tezuka invent the shortened form, or does her name in Japanese literally mean "uranium"?

For having watched episodes in Japanese, I can tell that her name is "Uran" as-is. "Uranium" as-is wouldn't fit very well as it isn't pronunciable in Japanese, because only the "n" can end a syllabe ("U-ra-n"). I think that jeffbert calls her "Uranium" because it is the direct translation of her name in English, I don't think it is official though.
