Me in cosplay

Postby astro_mcfly » 19 years ago

Back in march I cosplayed as Tima from Metropolis and won 3rd place. I'm posting a picture now. It was at Wizzywig collectables, if you know what that is.

I know it's a bad picture, but it's not the worst. Please excuse the background!

That's cool! Are you wearing a wig in the picture?

What were the first and second place costumes?

I'm going to my first anime/video game convention in a couple of months, and I'm going to enter the cosplay as Astroboy.
I'm a bit nervous because
a) I've never been to one before
b) I don't know if I'm too old for this kind of thing
c) I don't know how much effort other people people will put into their costumes, or even how many will be dressed up
d) I don't know if my costume will work

The first convention I went to I dressed up as Rock. :D Too bad we didn't go together!

That would have been great. Maybe you can go to Youmacon! I plan on cosplaying there. My next attempt will be Pinoko from Blackjack, but I'm willing to do repeats.
Dr. Frag, let me tell you, I'm not positive who won 1st and 2nd, but I'll find out for you, okay? n_n
People put tons of effort into their costumes, so I suggest you put the most effort possible into yours. Most of these people (at least the cons I've been to) the people are obsessed college (or just people who live on campus) kids who have lots of time and money to put into it.
Oh, I don't think you are too old at all. Many people of all different ages participate.
How do you plan on putting your costume together?
and the moment you have been waiting for.....................
IT'S MY REAL HAIR.
Ha. No kidding. I try to impress the judges by doing that kind of stuff.

I'm using wire mesh segments wrapped in foam then covered with wetlook vinyl. Except I can't get the vinyl in skintone (or even green!) and the foam is too yellow, so I don't know how it's going to turn out. I've got white, but it's a little pale.

:) Looks very neat! It must be fun to participate at such conventions!

At age of 12 I once had myself dressed up as Atlas. For the cape I was using a red plaid along with a wooden sword which merely resembled a stick (I even guess it was a stick!) and a self-made papermask with some openings for eyes and nose cut off which I used to tie at my face. Like this I was wandering around our quarter's block the whole day long  . Too bad there aren't any pics existing. I think they would file under 'Most embarrassing moments of my youth'.

n_n funny.
I wish you the best of luck.
Oh, it's very fun. While you're waiting, you can talk to people and look at some neat stuff! Of course, when I was there, the neat stuff happened to be a Blackjack poster and Astro Boy cassetes, but I didn't have any money on me at the time. Hhm... We had to spray paint a pair of shoes for my friend when she did the Uran costume (which was actually an altered (Costume) dress Amy wore from Sonic. Ha.) It looked nice, though. If you need any help, just ask me. I'll have a lot more free time after class lets out. "Most embarrassing moments of my youth." My eighth grade picture in a slide show at honor's night... Which will be televised. >o<

Really? I think I was 5 or 6. Maybe before then.
Does anyone have an opinion on what Pinoko outfit I should make? I have the bows done, and they are ultra-cute! If you have any clue or know what I'm talking about, I may need a few shots of her in that outfit (actually, as many different angles as possible!) Thank you! I thought I would post this here because I may have caught attention. I wish you, and myself, luck.

I think her cowgirl outfit that she & Uranium wore at the end of the 80s Time Machine ep was cute, but she might not be as recognizable, in that. There are some new Blackjack episodes, a few pictures are on the animate this thread.

She was in the Fumoon anime, that is available on Anapan's server. There are some figurines available. check eBay for them, & you will likely find a few pictures. :w00t:
