That's from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It's not too hard to convert AVI into animated GIF. A program called Animation Shop from Jasc Software has a wizard that does it automatically even.

Yeah, Animation Shop is the way to go. I got it free with Paint Shop Pro 6, I think they're up to version 8 now. You can get a 60 day trial version from Jasc.

I used Animation shop (and Povray) for my sig. You can basically load in any AVI and crop it, delete frames, move frames, export frames for individual editing, change the speed. Then save it as an animated GIF. It's great. I also have a video capture card so I can capture TV/Video/DVD to an AVI file, so there's huge possibilities with it.
