I read Andrew Porter's translation for a course about Medieval myth, and found it quite entertaining. It was contrasted to the Saga of the Volsungs, which we read earlier in the class. I had read the Niebelungenleid (not sure about spelling), and remember the death scene from it. I believe Hagan was supposed to guard S's one vulnerable spot, but instead, S's wife doomed him by telling H its location. Good stuff. Hooray for myth.

I wonder if it's possible that a hero  can avoid the cliche' of the fate of Siegfried.
This has got to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written... This is fabulous. And of course the fate of Astro is the same.... Or maybe not.

What do you mean? I don't remember Astro being invulnerable in any way... At least compared to another robot I mean ;)
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

He is very vulnerable to guile. The giant veggie episode makes that quite clear. He wants to believe that the man has good intentions, and in so doing, he & the girl are locked in. Dispite all his power, he is a child, and thus is niave to a point.

You miss the point Jeffbert...
Faf was hollering because I said that Astro could possibly escape the power of the dragon Fafner.... Which is a type of the Hydra-serpent of the apocalypse. Faf runs in and demands that none of his victims are invulnerable from the fafnerian power.
This is the Dragon Fafner

This is our Faf...

Except for right here, I do not see where you have said this.

:P How could I have missed the joke? The member's name never even occurred to me.

If you have seen #13, you have seen the robotic dragon (Pteradactyl), and the kid sister holding a bird. I do not understand Japanese, but according to Sony's page for Uranium, she can communicate with animals. This is clearly the case in the time-travel episode, when she calms the cheetah. I wonder if this ability was from the start, or resulted from Atom (not Uran) killing the dragon?

This was the line that Faf jumped on..
When I hinted that maybe Astro might not get dragon chomped. :wahah:

Although both may be fatal, there is a big difference between being speared and chomped! :D
