The tail of the beast breaks off in Astro's hand. Note the sign that Dr. Elefun gives over the tail. This is very similar to Reptilicus who arose from a "piece of tail..."

This gesture must have some meaning. I remember discussing a similar one from The transformation robot, in which the guy was pointing up, but using index fingers, rather than thumbs:

Okay, this is from The Transformation Robot. The guy in the picture is Snare, who works for Mandrake the Fourth (remember that guy with the funny voice?).

Anyway, Snare shoots Buck's dad, and then tells Buck that his dad was kidnapped by "a robot with horns on his head like this". (meaning Astro)

Does this gesture really refer to Atom's hair?

According to Japanese Beyond Words, it "means that there is an angry wife waiting at home." :D  :wahah: It goes further to state "the silk cap-like headdress A Japanese bride wears on her wedding day is called tsuno-kakushi, literally, 'something to hide the horns.'" :P :P :D :D   :wahah: :wahah:[/b][/quote]

Unfortunately, the pic is no longer there.

No, I never have seen it. Is it worthwhile, funny, or truly scary?

It sure seems like Darkhorse could have taught something to TRSI. All 23 volumes of the manga have A NOTE TO READERS that refers to such images as this one, that at very least prepares them for such depictions. I have Dr. Suess goes to war & the complete... Pvt SNAFU, both of these also are full of unflattering caricatures of Japanese, Germans, & several people in particular. I do not remember if they had similar disclaimers to the one in the Astroboy manga, & I am not going to check either.

Also, I forgot the piont I was going to make. :D

Of course you do, because the "Neuropathic Child Brain" is crumbling.... The Psi must be directed through the "Neuropathogen resistant Child Brain..." But the image may not be undesirable or hateful. :wahah:

The talking dinos get the scientists under their hypnotic control to build a gigantic robot monster.

Mysterious goings on prompt efforts to drain Foggybotom Lake. Talking dinosaurs who spit a potent venom gain hypnotic control of the workmen draining the lake, and it's up to Astroboy to put an end to it. (**This episode was produced by animators handpicked by Tezuka, but he was so disapponted with the end result that all prints in Japan were destroyed. (ie.silly cover Story, he wanted an English only version....) Luckily for us, a print had already been shipped to the US and this english dub is all that survives of "The Lost Episode" of Astroboy.)</span>
